On the night of our 9th wedding anniversary I am sitting home alone reading blogs. Rich is out of town for work so I was home alone all day and night, fed the kids dinner, put them to bed, and here I am. Pretty exciting...definitely not the same as years past. We are celebrating Friday so it better be good!! HAHA! (Barb, I think it's a tie for who had the best anniversary this year!

UPDATE: Rich actually sent me 2 dozen beautiful roses and I didn't know they were on the porch all night...oops! We went to dinner at "Monsoon's" Friday night and then he surprised me with a new cell phone! Rich, thanks for the best 9 years! I love you and look forward to many, many, more!! I have had a few requests to share how we met and our first date...pull up a chair and have a seat this is gonna be a long one. Enjoy!
I had been taking some college classes and working two jobs so I didn't get very many days off. I finally had a Saturday off and was SO excited and had lots I wanted to do when my mom tells me that it was her wards "Super Saturday Craft Day" and she wanted me to go with her. UGH, I kept trying to get out of it but I felt bad and agreed to go with her. A new woman in our ward, Amy Cardiff, was teaching a cute Christmas craft so I decided to go to it. She started talking to me and found out I had just graduated high school and liked to snowboard so she said "Oh, you ought to meet my brother-in-law Richard, he just got off his mission this week and he likes to ski."
Our first date was on Friday, November 13, 1998. We went to dinner, played air hockey, and miniature golf, and then went back to David and Amy's house to watch a movie. When it was about 2am, Rich says "Hey, let's go drive around and you can give me a tour of the town." I'm thinking, okay that shouldn't take long there is not much here...so we drove around, went to the snowbowl, and drove around some more. We were having such a good time that neither of us were paying much attention to the time. At about 5am he decided he had better get me home. As we were turning into my parent's neighborhood we passed an officer who then flipped around and started following us. I was wondering why an officer would be following us and wasn't telling Rich how to get me back home so he missed the street to my parent's house. Right then, the officer turned his lights on and pulled us over. As we rolled the window down he says, "Oh, Linsey I am glad to see you. You had better get back home. Your mom is a little worried about you." He talked to us a few more minutes and then we turned around and as we pull up to the house we see my dad standing at the front door. Rich asks if I wanted him to walk me up and I said I would be okay, so he took off throwing rocks and cinders on me as he sped away.
It turns out my mom was worried we had a car problem so she called David and Amy, and they didn't know where we had gone so David, my dad and Derek all drove around looking for us. I have no clue how we didn't pass anyone. This town is not that big. After they couldn't find us my mom decided to call the police and just have them look for us since she figured we were broken down on the side of the road and maybe one of the officers would see us as they were driving around. Well, since I worked for the Police Dept. it turned into a HUGE missing person report. Everyone from my supervisor up to the Chief of Police had to be notified. I was so mad at my mom, talk about embarrassing!! Everyone made fun of me at work for the longest time! Anyways, Rich's dad kept telling him that he could just "Kiss that girl goodbye...her parent's have to be so mad...you don't keep a girl out all night like that..." and I kept telling my mom "Way to go, I really liked him and now he will NEVER call me again!"
So Sunday night, 2 days later, we get a knock on the door and it's Rich standing there waiving a white hankerchief at my Dad. We all thought it was funny and now we have the police report as the first page in our scrapbook.
Rich swears he knew I was the one he was gonna marry after our second date but it took me a lot longer to realize it. A year and a half later we were married in the Mesa Temple. I'm so glad I was blessed with such an amazing guy to be my husband!
