San Francisco - Day 3

This morning we left the hotel pretty early and had breakfast at the little cafe around the corner again. Then we hopped on the bus and went to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.

The bus ride there-I was not a fan of riding the bus, it was probably my least favorite thing about the whole trip. Being crammed into a small area with tons of smelly people wasn't fun!!






They had these signs all along the bridge that we thought were funny.


The next stop was Golden Gate Park which isn't near the bridge in case you were wondering. We had to hop on another fun bus. The girls went in and saw the Japanese Tea Garden which was really pretty, while the guys hung out and waited for us.




Across the street from the Tea Garden was a huge outdoor theater that we hung out at while waiting for our bus.



Then we went to "The Painted Ladies/Alamo Square/Postcard Row which is where the opening credits of the TV show "Full House" was filmed.

The green one on the far left is for sale right now for only 4 million. I think it was about 2200 sf, 4 bed/3 bath. It would have been fun to take a tour of it.



Lance and Stephanie were watching a show "Man vs. Food" and they had a restaurant "Ike's Place" on it. It showed long lines up the sidewalk of people just waiting to get sandwiches from this place. We found it and we now know why. The sandwiches were amazing and definitely worth the wait!

We needed some dessert after our good sandwiches so we walked over to Ghirardelli Square and ordered "The Earthquake" from the ice cream shop there. 8 scoops of ice cream, 8 toppings, 8 cherries...

We are lucky to have such amazing friends! We had a great time and can't wait for the next trip! Ryan, Jen, John, and Sara we missed you guys!

San Francisco - Day 2

Today we left the hotel early and walked over to a cute little cafe just around the corner. They had the BEST fruit, it was soo good! After breakfast we went and hopped on a cruise boat and did the Alcatraz tour.








This is part of the audio tour where they take you outside. Each person gets a headset with a pre-recording that walks you through the prison building with former inmates, correctional officers, and residents reminiscing about life there on the island. We also had a retired FBI agent that gave a small tour and told us some escape stories which were really interesting.


Next, we jumped on a cable car and went to China Town.


After wandering around for a while trying to figure out where to eat lunch, most of us decided we were not in the mood for Chinese food anymore so we went back to the Pier and ate Lunch/Dinner at "Bubba Gumps."

Afterwards, we walked around all the cute shops at the pier, making a stop at a candy store for lots of Salt Water Taffy that was soo good!

San Francisco - Day 1

For our ten year anniversary we wanted to go somewhere really fun and decided it would be fun to go with all of our friends we met when we were first married. One of the couples (Lance and Stephanie) were married on the same day, same year, same temple, just a few hours later than us. We are all celebrating ten years this year or last year so everyone was excited to go.

We flew in early Thursday morning and didn't waste any time getting started. We checked in to our Hotel which was on Fisherman's Wharf and then we walked straight over to Ghirardelli Square and started sampling chocolate. We finished off with some good hot chocolate, a triple chocolate brownie, and a chocolate croissant. You would think we would be sick of chocolate after that but it was just the beginning!

We hadn't figured out the public transportation system yet so we just started walking up some major steep streets making our way to Lombard Street or "Crookedest Street". The pictures don't even do it justice for just how steep the majority of the streets are in San Francisco.

After a lot of walking we decided we better figure out the transportation system so we took our first ride on a cable car and then went to the cable car museum.

"When in Rome..."

By now we were starving and thought Mexican food sounded good...next thing we knew we were in Mexico, or pretty close to it. The neighborhood was very sketchy and so were the bus rides to and from, but the burritos were really good! Afterwards, we went back to the hotel and got ready for Wicked. It was amazing and we absolutely loved it! Only bad thing is that we were completely exhausted and I kept falling asleep.

Random Funnies

This week for FHE we played Spit Wad Trivia. Caiden picked the question "Who is the prophet of the church?" His answer..."Thomas S. Obama!!" Luckily he redeemed himself on some other harder ones that we didn't think he would know.

Kelsi always tells me "Mom, you're my best my friend. I lub you" then gives me a huge hug and kiss. I love it! She is the biggest helper in picking up toys and getting things done around the house.

Kortlin is more of the quiet one lately and just goes with the flow. She definitely gets her feelings hurt much easier. She loves her sister. They are constantly making each other laugh and are always playing together.
